Babbo's Books is named for my father Hubsy Stein
who was a book restorer and jazz trumpet player. He
owned his own business, Bound For Glory and worked
for many libraries, namely The New York Society
Library.
Babbo's specializes in used books but has new books
as well. We are personable, affordable, and
independently owned.
A bookstore adds a lot to a neighborhood. Beyond
encouraging reading (always a good thing), it brings
different sorts of people together. The store fosters
community, as many have told me.
Nearly every day since we opened in October 2006,
someone mentions how glad they are that there's a
bookstore in Windsor Terrace again. We hope to be
in business on the avenue for many years to come.
